After bumping into each other, one says, “You got peanut butter on my chocolate!” and the other counters, “You got chocolate in my peanut butter!” Tentatively, each samples the newly combined concoction and has an Aha! moment. The ad, of course, is for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and the commercial concludes with the remark that these are two great tastes that taste great together. My love of language and story fits together with my psychotherapeutic practice just as naturally as peanut butter and chocolate fit together in the illustration above. I had had a passion for both my professional practice of counseling and my avocation of writing for several years before the pieces started fitting together and I saw more and more clearly how these two great works could work great together.
